Say no to plastic

A cup should outlast your coffee. Not the next ten generations.

This is the part of the industry nobody advertises. It is also the reason we build our cups the way we do.

The problem

The word “compostable” is doing a lot of work.

Nearly every paper cup labelled recyclable or compostable contains either a plastic or a PLA liner. It is what stops the drink soaking through the paper, and it is almost always there.

Plastic-coated cups are not compostable, and cannot easily be recycled — the two materials have to be separated first, and almost nowhere does that at scale. PLA-lined cups can only be composted under controlled industrial conditions, and are rarely recycled in practice.

In most cases both end up in landfill, or are washed into waterbodies, where they fragment into microplastics.

Plastic vs paper

What actually happens after the last sip.

How a conventional cup compares with ours
  Plastic or PLA lined Cupagreen
Biodegradable No, or only industrially Yes
Recyclable in practice Rarely — the liner must be separated Yes, as paper
Home compostable No Yes
Leaves microplastics Yes No

We would rather solve the lining problem than label around it.

Everything we make is designed to biodegrade and compost cleanly, the way disposable packaging always should have. The paper is food-grade and responsibly sourced. The cups are manufactured in our own facilities in India, so we know what goes into them.

It is not a premium line or a special order. It is the only kind of cup we make.

No plastic lining

Plant-based through the whole wall — nothing you serve outlives the meal.

Composts cleanly

Returns to the soil rather than fragmenting for centuries.

Responsibly sourced

Food-grade paper from managed sources, converted in our own plants.

Where this is going

Paper-based disposables are the direction of travel.

Regulation is tightening, customers are asking harder questions, and paper-based disposables are becoming the default rather than the premium option — for the simple reason that they degrade easily and the alternatives do not.

Brands that move early get to make it part of their story rather than a compliance exercise. We can help with both.
